Board of Directors
Clear Water Academy Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors, which bears ultimate responsibility for ensuring that Clear Water Academy fulfills its mission. The Board sets policy and hires and oversees the Executive Director to manage the day to day operations of the school. The membership of the Board of Directors is currently comprised of the following individuals, which includes priests and local lay members. All members with the exception of Father Gannon LC reside in Calgary.The board members are as follows:
Dan has been on the Clear Water Academy Board for 4 years. Dan was the founder of Calgary-based Chariot Carriers, a market leading designer and manufacturer of sporting child carrier products for active families. Chariot’s products were sold internationally and the company was recognized through awards of excellence in the areas of product design, exporting, and entrepreneurship. After managing and helping to build Chariot for 20 years, Chariot was acquired by the Thule Group in 2011. Dan continues to work with Thule as it’s Director of Innovation for its Active With Kids division. Dan has a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Calgary.
Dan and his wife Jodie have been involved with Clear Water Academy for many years. Currently three of their six children attend Clear Water Academy, and their oldest son recently graduated from the school after attending for 14 years (including Jr. Kindergarten). Dan and Jodie are excited to journey with the school for many more years, as their youngest (2 years old) is already talking about going to school with her siblings!
Robert (Bob) Christianson
Mr. Christianson is the founder and CEO of Dighu Media Inc., a social media company that creates products to promote, encourage, celebrate and reward acts of common humanity (good deeds). Mr. Christianson recently served in the capacity of vice president of business development of Iron Will Innovations, a think tank formed to bring game-changing products to the global market. He continues to advise Iron Will as it deploys its wearable computer interface in military, education, business and gaming applications.
Mr. Christianson was co-founder, and director of RepeatSeat Ltd., a company that developed the online and mobile ticketing presence for Cineplex Entertainment LLP. Prior to co-founding RepeatSeat, he was president of Halo Power Inc., a provider of electrical power generation through the use of micro turbines and gas expansion. Mr. Christianson has considerable experience in the oil and gas services industry, particularly in the areas of marketing and management. This included time spent in Eastern Europe and China. Mr. Christianson was President of Christianson Pipe Ltd. (CPL), and jointly founded and served in various capacities at Chriscor Industries, International Petroleum Equipment Corporation and IPEC (IPE:TSE), a publicly traded oilfield services company that was subsequently sold to Flint Energy Services.
Mr. Christianson is an entrepreneurial and ethical executive with more than 25 years of international experience managing marketing, sales, corporate finance, product development, acquisitions and divestitures in private and public companies and in both traditional and IT based corporations. Mr. Christianson holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Calgary, and a Masters of Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.
Bob and his wife Angela are one of the founding families of Clear Water Academy. They have six children, all of whom have attended Clear Water Academy.
Marianne Divjak Faba
Director and Chair of Technology Committee
Ms. Marianne Divjak Faba has been working with ENDOW since September 2009. She is one of the key members to bring ENDOW, an International Women's Ministry, to Canada. ENDOW is a non profit organization that offers Catholic educational programs throughout the diocese and continues to make its way across Canada. Ms. Divjak Faba entered the business world in 1994 when starting to work with RIS, Resource Information Systems Inc, an IT consulting firm. Within her role of Vice President, Corporate Services, she was responsible for all the operational support of the company's Applications Support and Maintenance (ASM) services and solutions. In 2007, RIS was sold to Sierra Systems and Marianne stayed within the Vice President, AMS Operations role during the transition. Marianne and her husband Dan have five children, three of which attend Clear Water Academy.
Fr. John Gannon, LC
Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Fr. John Gannon was ordained a priest in Rome on November 25, 2004 after training in Spain, Colombia, Brazil and Italy. He spent 2004-2006 obtaining his licentiate in moral theology from Regina Apostolorum University in Rome, Italy. In 2005, he became the Vice-Rector of the general directorate in Rome. In 2006, he moved to Canada to become the Vice-Rector of the novitiate in Cornwall, Ontario. He currently directs the Regnum Christi movement in Western Canada.
Fr. Brian Hubka, LC
Born in Claresholm, Alberta, Fr. Brian Hubka entered St. Joseph’s Seminary in Edmonton in 1961 and was ordained a priest at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Calgary in 1967. Fr. Hubka served at number of parishes in the Calgary Diocese from 1967 to 2002 including, St. Gerard’s, Holy Name, St. Luke’s, St. Peter’s, Foremost/Crowsnest and St. Patrick’s in Medicine Hat. After two years of study in Ottawa, he was appointed to the Diocesan Office in Calgary overseeing the Tribunal office from 2004 to 2015.
Fr. Hubka retired in July of 2015 and has served on the Board of Directors of Clear Water Academy since January of 2014.
Suzy Moutinho is a senior management professional whose career spans the railroad, telecommunications and energy industries, primarily in operational and human resources roles. Suzy is currently working at the RC Diocese of Calgary in Human Resources. Prior to this role, Suzy lead the integration of a medium-sized acquisition at Gibson Energy. Suzy holds two bachelor degrees in Economics and Industrial Relations, respectively, and a Masters of Business Administration from Queen’s University. Suzy is currently the Chair on the Board of Directors with Youth Central Society and has been a board director since 2005 as a member on the Governance, Fund Development and Strategic Planning Committees. Suzy is also trained and experienced as a grief support facilitator with the Alberta Health Services Grief Support Program. She has volunteered at Clear Water Academy at various community building events as well as the annual fundraising Gala for the past 10 years. Suzy joined the Finance Committee at St. Bonaventure Parish a year ago. Suzy and her husband Ralph Kroll have two children at Clear Water Academy.
Andrew (Andy) Pernal
Mr. Pernal is President and Chief Executive Officer of Strad Energy Services Ltd., a publicly traded energy services company operating in Canada and the United States. Andy is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CA) and holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree from the University of Manitoba. Prior to joining Strad in 2006, Andy spent twelve years in the cable television, broadcasting and telecommunications industries serving in various senior financial roles. Prior to his industry experience, Andy spent nine years in public accounting, primarily with Deloitte in Winnipeg. Andy has also been involved with various community and charitable organizations including: Board Member of Christ the King School and Trustee of Christ the King Parish in Winnipeg; Treasurer of the Western Canada Aviation Museum and the Cerebral Palsy Association of Manitoba. In Calgary, he has been involved in various volunteer capacities with Springbank and Trails West Minor Hockey Associations, CalWest Little League and St. Michael Catholic Community.
Andy has been a member of the Clear Water Academy Board of Directors since 2005 and was Chairman of the Board from 2007 to 2010. Andy currently serves as Chair of the Finance Committee. Andy and his wife Val have three sons all of whom attend, or have attended, Clear Water Academy since 2003.
Rob is also very active in the community through Rotary, the Alberta Handball Association, and the Business Fore Calgary Kids Foundation. Rob and Launie have two boys at Clear Water Academy. Their third son, Jerome, attends St. Matthew Junior HS.
